 The orangutan is they Malay word for man of the jungle. The reason the Malays would of gave the orangutan that name is because, the orangutan and a man are very similar they both have thumbs on their hands (but they also have thumbs on their feet witch a human does not.) The scientific name for the Bornean orangutan is Pongo pygmaeus. And the Pongo abelii witch is the scientific name for the Sumatran orangutan. The orangutan lives on two different islands Sumatran and Borneo. The orangutans diet is 60% fruit and, 20% leaves, 18% bark, and 2% insects. The orangutan is a vertebrate and is also a mammal. The orangutan is A warm blooded animal or an endoderm. The orangutan is an omnivore witch means their diet is fruit. The kingdom that the orangutan is in is the Animalia. Witch basically includes all animals. The orangutan lives in A Tundra Biome. Since the orangutan lives in a rain forest the climate of a rain forest is hot and humid.
